A Yemeni human rights organization, the Eye Organization for Human Rights, has condemned the Iran-backed Houthis for the "arbitrary arrest" of six civilians in Al-Mahwait governorate. The group accused the Houthis of violating citizens' rights to document security threats after residents shared videos of a Houthi missile crashing in the Ibn Abdullah district of Jabal Al-Mahwit.

In a statement, the Eye Organization demanded the immediate release of the detainees and an end to what it called a campaign of intimidation and repression. The arrests followed the widespread online circulation of the missile crash footage.

Local sources, speaking anonymously to Barran Press, reported a wide-scale Houthi arrest campaign targeting those who filmed or shared the video. The six detainees were identified as Abdulaziz Mohammed Sagheer Nayef Al-Ashmouri, Mohammed Yahya Ahmed Al-Abbadi, Nassar Nasser Ali Al-Ashmouri, Mithaq Abdullah Al-Harazi, Essam Abdo Abdullah Muthnoun, and Adeeb Mohammed Al-Sayrani.

On Wednesday, Yemeni Information Minister Moammar Al-Eryani posted video evidence on X, including the Al-Mahwit footage of a Houthi-manufactured rocket marked "219,".

Al-Eryani accused the Houthis of deliberately targeting civilians to incite anger against U.S.-led airstrikes.
Rights groups and local media report that the Houthis have detained dozens in recent weeks for filming or sharing evidence of U.S. strikes, which began in mid-March and have reportedly killed over 370 and injured over 420, targeting Houthi positions in six provinces.
