Heavy clashes erupted on the Hareeb and Al-Abadiyah fronts in southern Marib Governorate, northeastern Yemen, on Saturday, a military source reported. The source indicated that the Giants Brigades successfully repelled a significant offensive launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia.
Speaking to "Baran Press," the source detailed how Giants Brigades forces countered a Houthi assault targeting positions in Al-Yahmoom and Ya'la mountains, located west of the Hareeb district. The engagements, which involved a range of weapons, lasted for several hours and resulted in the deaths of three Giants Brigades soldiers and the injury of four others.
The source further noted that the fighting in the Hareeb area marked the most intense confrontations between the Giants Brigades and the Houthis in approximately three years.
In a separate incident, the Giants Brigades announced that their forces had eliminated several Iranian-backed Houthi militants while thwarting an attack in the Al-Jafrah area of the Al-Abadiyah district, south of Marib, early Saturday.
A statement released by the "Media Center of the Giants Brigades," stated that Giants Brigades forces engaged in protracted clashes lasting hours against dozens of attacking Houthi fighters in the Al-Jafrah region. The statement claimed that the Giants Brigades utilized various light and medium weaponry, resulting in the elimination of the attacking force and the infliction of substantial casualties.
Since the start of the year, the Houthi group has intensified its military operations across several Yemeni governorates, breaking a roughly three-year period of relative calm. This resurgence in fighting has triggered growing concerns both domestically and internationally about a potential escalation of the conflict, with Marib Governorate becoming a central focus of these renewed movements.
