Maritime monitoring stations have documented the arrival of commercial vessels at Israeli ports after navigating the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Red Sea, despite the Houthi group's declaration that their prohibition on ships destined for Israel remains active and falls outside their accord with the United States.
Shipping data, analyzed by "Baran Press" using open-source intelligence, indicates that the commercial vessel ELEEN ARMONIA, bearing the Liberian flag, reached the Israeli port of Ashdod on May 12th. Notably, the port of Ashdod is situated approximately 28 kilometers from the blockaded Gaza port.
The data reveals that the cargo vessel "Eileen Armonia" is currently anchored in the eastern Mediterranean. Its journey commenced from the Chinese port of Tianjin, with its itinerary charting a course through the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait.
Furthermore, publicly available data specifies the ship's dimensions, registering a length of 189.9 meters and a width of 32.26 meters. The information also includes the precise times of its departure and subsequent arrival at the port of Ashdod in what is referred to as occupied Palestine.
The docking of commercial ships at Israeli ports directly contradicts pronouncements from the Houthi group, an entity designated as a terrorist organization by several nations. The Houthis have consistently stated that their embargo on vessels entering Israeli ports persists and that their ceasefire agreement with the United States concerning the Red Sea excludes both Israel and commercial shipping directed towards its harbors.
On May 6th, the US President Donald Trump announced what he characterized as the Houthi's capitulation and the cessation of military operations against them, which the US had initiated in mid-March. He declared, "We received very good news last night. The Houthis have announced that they no longer want to fight, or at least they announced to us that they no longer want to fight anymore."
The American President further elaborated, "We will stop the bombing, and they have surrendered. And more importantly, we will take their word for it, and they say they will no longer bomb ships, and that is the goal we want from what we were doing."
Following these remarks, the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the achievement of a truce between the United States and the Houthi movement. According to their statement, "neither party will target the other in the future, including ships in the Red Sea," and it also "ensures the freedom of navigation and the flow of international commercial shipping."
Since March 15th, US air forces had conducted over 800 airstrikes targeting Houthi positions, shelters, arms caches, command centers, and operational rooms across six governorates under the group's forceful control. These strikes were a response to the Houthis' attacks on international maritime traffic in the Red and Arabian Seas.
