A Houthi supervisor poured hot oil on an elderly pastry vendor in Ibb governorate on Thursday, according to residents.
The Houthi supervisor has been identified as Ahmed Halwan Al-Taheri, who reportedly claims the rank of captain. The victim, Ali Dabwan, was working in the Al-Odayn district when Al-Taheri attacked him.
Sources indicated that the hot oil caused severe burns, necessitating Dabwan's hospitalization in critical condition. Residents also reported that the assault followed a day of threats and verbal abuse directed at Dabwan by Al-Taheri, who reportedly filmed the interaction.
This act of violence has sparked outrage and adds to growing concerns about the conduct of Houthi members in areas under their control and the deteriorating human rights situation.
