The Iran-backed Houthis targeted a residential neighborhood in eastern Taiz city, southwestern Yemen, with artillery shells, on Monday.
Military sources informed "Bran Press" that artillery shells fired by the Houthis from their positions in the Softel hill and al-Hurriya area struck the al-Jahmaliyah neighborhood, east of Taiz city. The shelling resulted in the destruction of a citizen's house belonging to a man identified as "al-Dalali."
The sources reported that the family was not inside the house when one of the artillery shells struck, resulting in no injuries. However, the targeting of the residential area caused panic among civilians.
The military sources further stated that army units responded to the locations from which the shells were fired, claiming to have achieved accurate hits on Houthi positions.
The Houthis have frequently been accused of deliberately targeting civilians in Taiz city neighborhoods and its rural areas with heavy weapons, rockets, and drones. Additionally, the group's snipers reportedly target any movement of civilians in areas near the front lines east, northeast, and west of the city.
