Major General Sultan Al-Aradah, a member of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), today emphasized the necessity of adhering to the three fundamental references for a political resolution to the Yemeni crisis.
Al-Aradah's statement came during a meeting with EU Ambassador to Yemen, Gabriel Munuera Vinals, where they discussed the latest political, economic, and military developments, alongside the humanitarian crisis fueled by the Houthi group's escalation and threats to international shipping. The Houthis are an internationally designated terrorist organization.
The three references cited by Al-Aradah are the Gulf Initiative and its Executive Mechanism, the outcomes of the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference, and UN Security Council Resolution 2216.
Al-Aradah also called for effective international pressure on the Iran-backed Houthis to cease their escalation and fulfill humanitarian and political commitments, aiming to end Yemeni suffering and achieve national aspirations, according to Saba news agency.
He affirmed the PLC and government's positive engagement with regional and international proposals to end the Houthi-induced humanitarian crisis. Al-Aradah also lauded EU support for the Yemeni government, hoping for expanded cooperation to bolster economic stability and government capacity.
