An arms depot explosion in the Ma'wiyah area, east of Taiz governorate, has killed three people and injured several others, local sources reported Thursday.

The blast occurred in a basement within a residential building, which was reportedly being used as an arms cache by a local dealer. The explosion completely destroyed the building and caused significant damage to several adjacent homes and businesses.

Sources told "Baran Press" that the three fatalities, including a 15-year-old child and two young men, belonged to the same family. The injured, also from the same family, were reportedly residing in an apartment directly above the illicit arms storage.

Victims have been transported to hospitals in Ma'wiyah, Al-Hawban (Taiz), and Al-Qa'idah and Jiblah in the neighboring Ibb governorate. Houthi authorities, who control the area where the incident occurred, have not yet commented on the explosion.
