Tareq Saleh, a member of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, stated Monday that political differences among factions are a natural occurrence, emphasizing that "what truly matters is agreement on common goals."
Saleh's remarks came during a meeting with media professionals and activists on the Western Coast in Taiz. He urged them to amplify their role in combating misinformation and fostering community awareness, according to Yemen's official SABA news agency.
Addressing discussions about political disagreements within the components supporting the internationally recognized Yemeni government, Saleh reiterated, "Variations between political forces are natural, but consensus on common objectives is paramount." He added that "differences will dissipate over time, and everyone understands their responsibilities."
Saleh also criticized the Houthi group, asserting they are "evading one battle after another due to their inability to confront public anger." He pointed to their continuous exploitation of the Palestinian cause, describing the Houthi project as "a tool in the hands of the Revolutionary Guard—a truth everyone realizes and the group cannot deny."
He further claimed that Tehran had telephonically informed the Houthis of their commitment to an Iranian-American agreement stipulating a halt to Red Sea attacks, which the group reportedly complied with without objection. Saleh presented this as evidence of the Houthis' marginal role in Tehran's calculations.
Regarding the media's role, Saleh stressed the necessity for a "directed and aware" media that focuses on the "real enemy" and actively contributes to the national battle against the Iranian project in Yemen.
He highlighted the importance of enhancing community awareness as the "first line of defense" against Houthi attempts to exploit vulnerable individuals for destructive agendas. Saleh affirmed that media must be present on every front of confrontation, particularly in the "moral and psychological warfare."
