A child was injured by a Houthi sniper's bullet on Tuesday in the Al-Shaqab area of Sabr Al-Mawadim district, southwestern Taiz governorate. This incident raises the total number of victims of Houthi snipers in Al-Shaqab to 279 killed and wounded.
Human rights sources told "Baran Press" that a Houthi sniper, positioned on Al-Saleheen Hill east of Al-Shaqab, targeted 12-year-old Abdulkarim Abdullah bin Abdullah Abdo, causing a shrapnel injury to his eye. The child is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Taiz city.
This latest casualty underscores the ongoing threat posed by Houthi snipers to civilians in Taiz. Human rights reports indicated that between 2015 and 2023, the Houthi group was responsible for the deaths of 3,021 civilians and injuries to 6,361 others, including women and children, in Taiz province. These casualties are attributed to sniping, direct shelling of the city, and the widespread planting of landmines.
