The Israeli military on Monday evening issued an urgent warning for the evacuation of three ports in western Yemen currently under the control of the Houthi group.
In a statement posted on his X account, Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee addressed "everyone present in the maritime ports controlled by the terrorist Houthi regime: Ras Issa port, Hodeidah port, and Salif port."
Adraee further stated, "You have an important and urgent warning due to the terrorist Houthi regime's use of maritime ports for its terrorist activities. We urge everyone in these ports to evacuate them and stay away for their safety until further notice."
This warning comes amid escalating retaliatory attacks between the Iran-backed Houthi group and Israel. Since the outbreak of the war in Gaza last October, there have been repeated drone and missile strikes from both sides.
While media reports indicate that Houthi attacks have not caused significant damage, they have provided Israel with justification for retaliatory strikes.
These Israeli operations have reportedly destroyed Hodeidah port, Sana'a airport, two cement factories, and power stations.
Israel has vowed to continue its strikes, with its defense minister reportedly threatening to eliminate Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, drawing parallels to the fate of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. It is anticipated that Tel Aviv will continue to target Houthi-controlled facilities periodically in response to ongoing attacks.
