A high-ranking Yemeni official on Tuesday called for a decisive and unified international position against the Houthi group, which he labeled as a terrorist organization. He accused the Houthis of ignoring all regional and international peace initiatives and continuing their violations, which he warned threaten peace prospects.
Major General Sultan Al-Aradah, a vice president of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council and governor of Marib Governorate, made the remarks during a meeting with Jonathan Peccia, the acting U.S. Ambassador to Yemen, according to the official Saba news agency.

Al-Aradah stressed that the international community must take a clear, firm, and unified stance against the Houthis' "intransigence" and "aggressive behaviors." He asserted that these actions "threaten peace opportunities, undermine all UN and international efforts and initiatives, prolong the conflict, and exacerbate the suffering of Yemenis."

The discussion also touched upon the severe economic crisis plaguing Yemen. Al-Aradah highlighted the significant challenge it poses to the Presidential Leadership Council's and government's stabilization efforts. He attributed the decline in state revenues to the halt in oil exports, a direct consequence of Houthi attacks on ports and oil facilities. This has "increased financial burdens and exacerbated the economic crisis," negatively impacting various sectors, he noted.
