A woman in her fifties was killed today by an explosive device planted by the Iran-backed Houthi group  in her home in the Karsh area, north of Lahj governorate in southern Yemen.

Local sources told "Bran Press" that the victim, identified as Mariam Abdo Moqbel Ahmed Huraish, died when the device detonated inside her house in the Qadash area, part of the Karsh district in Al-Qubaytah, northern Lahj.

According to the sources, Huraish had been forcibly displaced from her home by the Houthis to a nearby village. She had returned to retrieve fodder for her livestock from an area adjacent to her house. The explosive detonated as she was opening her front door, tearing her body apart. The incident has reportedly sparked widespread outrage in the region.

This incident follows another attack on June 22, when a 13-year-old boy, Odai Abdulaziz Ahmed Saleh, was shot by a Houthi sniper in the same area. Local sources reported that the bullet struck Odai's neck and exited his left shoulder while he was eating breakfast with his family inside his home. He is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Aden, highlighting the Houthis' ongoing targeting of civilians.
