The foundation stone for constructing "Al-Subaih Housing City for Widows and Orphans" was laid on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, in Marib Governorate (northeastern Yemen). The project is funded by the Kuwaiti "Insan" Association and implemented by the Kafel Humanitarian Development Charity Foundation.
According to the official website of Marib Governorate, the Deputy Governor for Administrative Affairs, Abdullah Al-Bakeri, laid the foundation stone for the "Al-Subaih" housing project in the Al-Jafina camp for displaced people (south of Marib city).
Al-Bakeri expressed gratitude for the humanitarian interventions of the State of Kuwait, which has implemented numerous sustainable and depment projects, alongside emergency aid, particularly in providing shelter for displaced persons.
The project comprises 28 "reinforced" housing units with service annexes. Each unit will consist of two rooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom, covering 45 square meters. The total area of the village is 6,000 square meters, with an estimated cost of one million Saudi Riyals.
On May 4, 2024, the local authority in Marib announced the commencement of a similar project in the Al-Rawda neighborhood, north of the city.
This project, named "Al-Babtain City for Widows and Orphans," involves the construction of 28 housing units, accompanied by a school, a mosque, and water and sanitation services. It is being implemented by the Kafel Humanitarian Development Charity Foundation with Kuwaiti funding from the Insan Charity Association.
