The internationally recognized Yemeni government has secured a 50 million yuan economic and technical cooperation agreement from China, aimed at supporting development projects and humanitarian aid in Yemen. The agreement was signed on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, in Beijing by Yemeni Foreign Minister Shaye' Al-Zandani and Luo Chaohui, head of the Chinese Agency for International Development Cooperation.
The agreement signifies China's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Yemen, particularly in the areas of economic, service, and humanitarian cooperation.
The signing took place during Al-Zandani's official visit to China, which began on Monday, May 27. The visit is expected to last several days and includes participation in the 10th ministerial meeting of the Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum, hosted by Beijing.
On the first day of his visit, Al-Zandani met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, where they discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries, coordinate positions on shared interests, and revitalize the Political Consultation Committee between their foreign ministries.
Al-Zandani also met with China's special envoy to the Middle East, Chai Jun, to discuss the situation in Yemen and the ongoing efforts by the Presidential Council and the government to achieve a comprehensive political solution that addresses the humanitarian crisis and brings peace and stability to the country.
