Yemen's President Seeks Saudi Support for Reforms Amidst Ongoing Conflict

President Rashad al-Alimi of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council met with Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman on Wednesday, June 5th, to discuss the latest developments in the ongoing Yemeni conflict and the need for Saudi support for ongoing reforms.

According to the official Yemeni news agency Saba, the meeting focused on the current state of the Yemeni conflict, the progress of government reforms, and the necessary support for their advancement. The two leaders also discussed joint efforts to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people and the latest developments in regional and international mediation efforts aimed at launching a comprehensive political process under the auspices of the United Nations.

President al-Alimi emphasized the need for Saudi support to strengthen the reforms being implemented by the council and the government. He also expressed appreciation for the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to improve the living conditions of the Yemeni people and achieve a just and comprehensive peace, along with the restoration of state institutions, security, stability, and development.

Al-Alimi lauded Saudi Arabia's unwavering support for the Yemeni people and its political leadership throughout various stages and circumstances, highlighting its commitment to ending the humanitarian crisis caused by the Houthi militia, which is designated as a terrorist group by several countries.

Prince Khalid bin Salman, who is responsible for the Yemeni file, reiterated Saudi Arabia's support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, encouraging a comprehensive and sustainable political solution under the auspices of the United Nations. He emphasized the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to ensuring the security, stability, and development of Yemen, fulfilling the aspirations of its people.
