The Yemeni Coast Guard, affiliated with the internationally recognized government, today announced the successful testing of its first locally designed and built patrol boat.

According to a statement from the Coast Guard, published on the official website of the Ministry of Interior, a technical team led by Major Safwan al-Azebi completed the practical test of the first small patrol boat to be designed and built locally.

"This achievement is a remarkable step and an encouraging start to developing local expertise in the field of boat manufacturing," said Coast Guard Commander Major General Khalid Ali al-Qumali.

"This achievement reflects the great potential of local cadres and encourages further investment in their development, which enhances the Coast Guard's security and maritime capabilities and contributes to achieving self-sufficiency in boat manufacturing in the future," the statement added.

The successful test marks a significant milestone for the Yemeni Coast Guard, demonstrating its commitment to developing its capabilities and reducing reliance on imports. The locally manufactured patrol boat is expected to play an important role in enhancing maritime security and protecting Yemen's territorial waters.
