The Yemeni government and the State of Qatar signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Sunday, June 9th, 2024, to support economic empowerment and address youth unemployment in Yemen, aiming to create job opportunities for approximately 100,000 young Yemenis.

The MoU, signed by Yemen's Foreign Minister, Shae'a Al-Zindani, in Doha with the Acting Director General of the Qatar Fund for Development, Sultan Ahmed Al-Asiri, aims to support the "Your Future" project and the "Youth Entrepreneurship and Financial Inclusion" project, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.

The website stated that the two projects "will provide job opportunities for over 98,385 young Yemeni men and women, through the Qatari organization "Silatech" in collaboration and coordination with the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation."

While Al-Zindani expressed the Yemeni government's gratitude for the support of brotherly Qatar to the Yemeni people, the Acting Director General of the Qatar Fund for Development welcomed the signing of the MoU, stating that it will contribute to building the capacity of young Yemeni entrepreneurs in organizing their small projects and supporting youth in achieving sustainable development and eliminating poverty.

In the same context, the Yemeni Foreign Minister, Shae'a Al-Zindani, met today with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, on the sidelines of the joint ministerial meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and Yemen in Doha.

According to the Ministry's website, the two sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen and develop them to broader horizons, serving the interests of the two countries and brotherly peoples, and coordinating positions on issues of common interest.

During the meeting, Al-Zindani praised Qatar's unwavering support for the Presidential Leadership Council and its government, expressing his gratitude for Qatar's developmental and relief interventions that contribute to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people.
