A meeting was held in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen, on Tuesday, June 25th, to discuss the final preparations for the upcoming high school exams for the 2023-2024 academic year.

According to the official Yemeni news agency Saba, the exams are scheduled to begin on Sunday, June 30th.

The meeting, chaired by Minister of Education Tariq al-Akbari, included the leadership of the Supreme Examination Committee, represented by Deputy Minister of Education Dr. Ali al-Abab, Deputy Chairman of the Committee and Director General of Curriculum and Guidance Dr. Abdulghani al-Shawdabi, and specialists from the General Examination Administration.

The meeting reviewed the final technical preparations and the plan for the exams, which have been completed both domestically and internationally.

The meeting emphasized the importance of adhering to the operational examination regulations and ensuring the success of the examination process.

Al-Akbari stressed the need for continuous work and the completion of this important task, which he said comes amidst difficult and exceptional circumstances. He also assured the ministry's commitment to addressing any challenges that may arise during the examination process.

He further emphasized the need for everyone to feel a sense of responsibility for the success of the high school exams and the importance of working professionally and responsibly in this regard.

In August 2023, the Ministry of Education reported that a total of 89,315 students had registered for the high school exams for the 2022-2023 academic year, including 75,620 students in the scientific stream and 13,695 students in the literary stream.

On July 10, 2023, the Ministry announced that the 2023-2024 academic year would begin on August 27th in Aden and across all governorates of Yemen.
