The Wadi'a border crossing between Yemen and Saudi Arabia is experiencing a surge in Yemeni travelers returning from the Kingdom to Yemen.

Salim bin Yusuf Shaqran, a customs broker at the Wadi'a crossing, told Barran Press that the congestion is a seasonal occurrence, particularly during Hajj, Ramadan, and the Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr holidays.

Shaqran explained that the current congestion coincides with the end of the Eid al-Adha holiday, the opening of the Umrah pilgrimage season, and the arrival of pilgrims after the Hajj season concluded.

He noted that the congestion before Eid al-Adha was due to Yemeni expatriates leaving Saudi Arabia to celebrate the holiday with their families in Yemen.

Travelers spoke to Bran Press, stating that the opening of the Ma'rib-Bayda-Sana'a route encouraged many Yemeni expatriates in Saudi Arabia to return home for Eid al-Adha.

They believe this contributed to the increased congestion at the Wadi'a crossing before Eid al-Adha and now, after the holiday, creating a larger backlog than in previous years.
