A young man from the Al-Difallah tribe was shot and killed by tribal gunmen in the Asilan district of Shabwah Governorate (eastern Yemen) on Saturday, June 29th, according to local sources.
The sources told Barran Press that Zayed Ahmed Al-Karam Al-Maraosi Al-Abdali Al-Difali was killed by gunmen from the Al-Ishaq tribe in the Al-Nuqub market in Osilan, northwest of Shabwah.
The sources explained that the gunmen ambushed Al-Difali with a barrage of bullets as he passed through the market, killing him instantly. The attackers then fled the scene.
The sources noted that the killing stemmed from an old tribal feud between the Al-Difallah and Al-Ishaq tribes, who are neighbors in the Arra and Al-Safra areas south of Asilan. The feud is rooted in a dispute over borderlands between the two tribes.
Shabwah Governorate, currently under the control of the Southern Transitional Council, has been witnessing a surge in tribal killings and clashes fueled by revenge or land disputes. This comes amid reports of unprecedented security lapses in the governorate.
