Local sources reported on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, that a nurse was killed by gunfire from Shabwah Defense Forces, affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council, at a security checkpoint in Ataq, the capital of Shabwah governorate (eastern Yemen).

Sources told Bran Press that the young man, Salem Abdullah Mohsen bin Sayel Al-Khalefi, who worked as a nurse at the Shabwah General Hospital, was killed by gunfire from Shabwah Defense Forces personnel at the eastern entrance of Ataq.

The sources explained that Al-Khalefi was on his way home from work at the Shabwah General Hospital when he was shot by Shabwah Defense Forces personnel in the "Khamr" area, resulting in his immediate death.
