On Sunday, July 14th, 2024, Yemen’s Attorney General, Judge Qaher Mustafa, issued a decision ordering an investigation into the kidnapping of Sheikh Ali Al-Ja'adani, who has been missing in Aden since June 12th.

According to Decision No. (8) of 2024, obtained by "Barran Press," Judge Azzam Ibrahim Ahmed Abdul-Mughni, Head of the Technical Office at the Attorney General's Office, has been tasked with investigating the disappearance of Colonel Ali Al-Ja'adani. The decision also grants the Head of the Technical Office the authority of the Attorney General in handling serious crimes related to the case.

On July 9th, the Supreme Security Committee of the internationally recognized Yemeni government confirmed the kidnapping of Sheikh and Yemeni Army officer Ali Al-Ja'adani, circulating the names of four suspects to security and military checkpoints for their apprehension.

The Committee, during its meeting in Aden, identified the suspects as Samih Eidrous Al-Nawragi, Tamam Mohammed Ghalib Hassan "Al-Batta," Bakil Mukhtar Mohammed Saad, and Mahmoud Othman Saeed Al-Hindi.

The Supreme Security Committee also ordered the suspension of the Commander of Counterterrorism Forces in Aden, Yusran Al-Maqtri, pending investigation. Additionally, the suspected individuals were handed over to Aden security forces, and a joint investigation committee was formed, comprising members from Aden security, Abyan security, criminal investigation, the security belt, intelligence, and the counterterrorism apparatus.

The Committee further mandated the apprehension of any suspected individuals involved in crimes and the pursuit of fugitives. They also called for the Attorney General's oversight of investigations, emphasizing the need for swift completion of procedures and referral to judicial authorities.

Prior to this, tribes in Abyan province, where Al-Ja'adani hails from, had given Aden's security forces a deadline to reveal the fate of their kidnapped member and apprehend the accused.

On June 28th, Abyan tribes held a consultative meeting in Aden to discuss the disappearance of Colonel Ali Al-Ja'adani, who vanished on June 12th. They threatened to escalate their actions if he was not released safe and sound, emphasizing their right to retaliate and leaving their options open.

The tribes demanded immediate intervention from the Presidential Leadership Council, the government of national unity, the Southern Transitional Council, and the leadership of the Arab coalition to disclose the location of Colonel Ali Abdullah Al-Ja'adani and secure his release.

The tribes claim that Al-Ja'adani was kidnapped in Aden on June 12th and his whereabouts remain unknown. They criticize the lack of action from security forces.

On July 2nd, military, security, and local authorities in Abyan province declared their support for the tribes' escalating measures in demanding the release of Colonel Ali Al-Ja'adani, who has been missing in Aden since June 12th.
