Marib Health Office Finalizes Preparations for Polio Vaccination Campaign

The Director General of the Public Health and Population Office in Marib governorate, Dr. Ahmed Al-Obadi, confirmed on Sunday, July 14th, 2024, that final preparations have been completed for the launch of the second round of the emergency polio vaccination campaign. The campaign is scheduled to begin on Monday in all districts of the governorate.

Al-Obaditold the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the health office has finalized all technical equipment and logistical arrangements necessary for the campaign's launch in all villages, areas, and population gatherings, including camps and displaced persons settlements in the governorate. The campaign is being funded by the World Health Organization and UNICEF.

Dr. Al-Obadi explained that the health office has completed the training and qualification of approximately 891 health workers, volunteers, and field supervisors to implement the campaign. They have been divided into 377 mobile teams going door-to-door, in addition to 34 stationary teams at health centers in all districts of the governorate.

He indicated that the campaign aims to vaccinate approximately 102,0456 children under the age of five in the governorate over three days. He urged all parents to vaccinate their children against polio during the campaign days to protect them and strengthen their immunity against this deadly virus.

Al-Obadi called for the consolidation of all official, popular, and community efforts, urging cooperation with the stationary and mobile vaccination teams. He stressed the importance of facilitating their work, enabling them to reach all targeted children in the governorate, and working towards the success of the campaign and the achievement of its outlined objectives.
