The Yemeni army has reported the downing of a Houthi drone in Saada province, northern Yemen, on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
A military source told the Yemeni Ministry of Defense website, September Net, that air defenses in the Alib axis in Saada shot down the drone while it was flying over army positions in the Shamiya front in Baqim district.
The source stated that the attempt "is part of a series of violations by the Houthi militia, internationally classified as a terrorist group, to thwart peace efforts and attempt to reignite the war."
He added that this attack follows several previous attempts in recent days, all of which were successfully thwarted by the armed forces.
The Houthis have recently escalated their military activities on various fronts, including Taiz, Marib, Al-Dhale, and Lahj, carrying out limited military operations, infiltration attempts, and attacks using artillery and drones.
This latest incident highlights the ongoing conflict in Yemen, where the Houthis continue to challenge the Yemeni government and international efforts to establish peace. The downing of the drone demonstrates the Yemeni army's continued efforts to defend against Houthi attacks and maintain security in the region.
