Yemen is bracing for widespread heavy to very heavy rainfall, potentially leading to flash floods, starting Sunday evening, August 11, 2024, according to weather forecasts and meteorological reports.

The heavy rainfall is expected to spread to the eastern governorates of Shabwah and Hadhramaut on Monday evening, concentrating on Dوعن district and surrounding areas in southern Hadhramaut, and the city of Ataq and its surroundings.

Large tropical clouds are expected to bring heavy to very heavy rain to the city of Al Hudaydah and surrounding areas on Tuesday, August 13, and Wednesday, August 14, potentially causing less severe flooding compared to last week's events.

These tropical clouds are predicted to move towards the northwestern governorates of Hajjah, Al Mahwit, and Amran in the early hours of Wednesday, bringing heavy to very heavy rain throughout the day, potentially leading to flooding.

The effects of the tropical cloud expected over Al Hudaydah, Hajjah, Al Mahwit, and Amran on Wednesday are expected to extend to the governorates of Taiz, Al Dhalea, Raymah, and Ibb, with heavy rain in the morning and moderate rain in the afternoon and evening.

On Wednesday evening, Sana'a, Dhamar, and Hajjah are expected to experience heavy to moderate rain, while Al Bayda, Lahj, Al Jawf, Marib, Sa'ada, Al Mahwit, Raymah, and Amran are predicted to see heavy to moderate rainfall.
