Marib, Yemen - The "Marib Comprehensive Conference" was officially launched in the city of Marib on Tuesday, August 13th, 2024, bringing together a diverse group of leaders, including senior social and political figures, youth, women, and civil society representatives. This event marks a significant step towards uniting the people of Marib Governorate and presenting a united front against the Houthi militia.
The conference, described as a political and social entity, aims to create a comprehensive framework that includes all residents of Marib, regardless of their political affiliations or social backgrounds.
Sheikh Abdul Karim bin Hamad Haider, head of the conference's facilitation committee, emphasized the conference's commitment to liberating the remaining Marib districts currently under Houthi control and restoring all of Yemen's territory. He stated that the "Marib Comprehensive Conference" represents a unified front against the Houthis, drawing on the collective strength of the diverse communities of Marib.
Brigadier General Ali Mohammed Al-Kathiri, a prominent military figure, highlighted the conference's role in uniting Marib residents and supporting the Republic and the revolution until all of Yemen's territory is liberated. He emphasized that the conference represents a gathering of those who initially fought against the Houthis when they attempted to seize Marib and repelled them on its outskirts, led by Major General Sultan Al-Arada and the late Abdulrab Al-Shaddadi, along with patriotic residents of the governorate.
Al-Kathiri described the "Marib Comprehensive Conference" as a "thorn in the throat of the Houthis," underscoring its potential to disrupt the Houthis' efforts to control Marib and the surrounding region.
Sheikh Mohammed Mohsen bin Hazim, another prominent figure, emphasized the conference's inclusivity, stating that it encompasses all segments of Marib society, including its political and social components. He stressed that it is a political and social entity that excludes no one from Marib, ensuring a truly inclusive representation of the diverse communities within the governorate.
He added that the "Marib Comprehensive Conference" seeks to repel the Houthi militia and achieve everything that Marib requires, demonstrating its commitment to securing the well-being and prosperity of the region.
During the launch ceremony, Naji Al-Hanishi, Secretary of the Facilitation Committee, presented the conference's charter, which he described as aiming to unify the people of Marib and ensure the attainment of their political, economic, social, educational, military, and security rights at various levels, both locally and nationally. The charter outlines a comprehensive vision for the development and advancement of Marib, highlighting its commitment to securing the rights and welfare of all residents.
