Redaa, Yemen (August 28, 2024): A court affiliated with the Houthi group, designated as a terrorist organization by several countries, has sentenced a child rapist to death by stoning. The verdict was handed down on Wednesday against Abdulkarim Ahmed Saleh Al-Omrani, a Houthi supervisor, who was convicted of raping a child held captive in Redaa prison in Bayda governorate, central Yemen. rights sources told Bran Press that the court issued the death sentence against Al-Omrani, the primary suspect in the child rape case.

On Monday, August 26, the Qifah and Al-Abu Saleh tribes rallied in Redaa, demanding the Houthis hand over one of their supervisors in Bayda governorate and several other elements accused of raping a child who had been detained by the group in the central prison in Redaa.
The verdict comes amidst growing concerns about human rights abuses under Houthi rule, particularly against children. The incident has sparked outrage among local communities and raised questions about the Houthi group's commitment to justice and accountability.
