The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced early Sunday, September 1, 2024, that it had destroyed a drone and a remotely piloted boat belonging to the Houthi group, designated as a terrorist organization by the international community, within the past 24 hours.

In a statement posted on X, monitored by "Barran Press", CENTCOM said, "US Central Command forces successfully destroyed a drone and a remotely piloted boat in an area controlled by the Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen."

The statement added, "The drone and remotely piloted boat were assessed to pose a clear and imminent threat to US forces, coalition forces, and commercial vessels in the area."

CENTCOM emphasized that these actions were taken to protect freedom of navigation and ensure the safety and security of US forces, coalition forces, and commercial vessels in international waters.

Since last November, the Houthi group has been carrying out attacks on commercial cargo ships in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, and the Gulf of Aden, using missiles and drones.
