Hodeidah, Yemen - Three children tragically drowned in a pool of water in the al-Khokha district of Hodeidah governorate (western Yemen) on Sunday, September 1st, 2024. The incident occurred amidst heavy rains and ongoing floods that have been plaguing the region.
Local sources told "Barran Press" that the three children drowned in a water accumulation in the "Sha'b Nab'a" area of al-Khokha district, south of Hodeidah. Two other children were rescued from the same location.
The sources added that floodwaters from the "Hatab" wadi in the al-Zaydiyah district have completely surrounded the village of "Mahal," isolating it from all sides due to the massive influx of water from distant areas.
Hodeidah and vast areas of Yemen experienced exceptionally heavy rainfall throughout August, leading to widespread flooding. The floods have resulted in numerous casualties and significant material damage.
