The official Yemeni news agency Saba reported on Saturday, September 7, 2024, that a meeting between representatives of the Yemeni Geological and Mineral Resources Authority, recognized by the international community, and representatives of the Russian company Zarubezhgeologia, discussed the company's continuation of studies conducted in the 1980s on Yemeni territory.
The meeting, held via video conferencing, also discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of mineral resources and the importance of advancing cooperation in exploration, mining, training, and other related areas.
According to the official agency, "This cooperation is expected to contribute to implementing detailed exploration work in promising locations, conducting exploration activities, qualifying areas to attract investment in Yemen, strengthening the national economy, providing new job opportunities, and developing infrastructure in targeted areas."
Zarubezhgeologia is a subsidiary of the Russian giant Rosgeo, specializing in groundwater exploration, mining, and seismic studies. It has 64 subsidiaries with headquarters in Moscow.
The company, along with other Russian companies, is active in several countries, particularly in Africa, based on previous Soviet studies, in various sectors, including mining.
