Yemeni Prime Minister concludes visit to Qatar, describing it as “successful and fruitful”

The internationally recognized Prime Minister of Yemen, Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, concluded his visit to Qatar on Thursday, describing it as "successful and fruitful in strengthening brotherly relations between the two countries and peoples."

Bin Mubarak stated in a press release published by the official Yemeni news agency Saba that the visit "aimed to reach understandings to develop bilateral cooperation frameworks and create economic and investment partnerships to achieve mutual benefits."

According to the agency, the Prime Minister held "talks with senior officials and participated in the celebration of the fifth anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly's declaration of September 9th as International Day to Protect Education from Attack."

The Prime Minister met with Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairwoman of the Education Above All Foundation, to discuss proposals for the foundation's interventions in Yemen to support the government's efforts in education, implement sustainable education projects at the national level, build specialized schools for children with special needs and victims of landmines, and support teachers.

He also held bilateral talks with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, discussing the latest developments on the national and regional fronts, strengthening bilateral relations, and the role Qatar can play in supporting the Yemeni government's efforts to achieve economic stability.

Bin Mubarak engaged in discussions with the Minister of Finance, the Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the leadership of the Qatar Fund for Development, focusing on mechanisms for implementing agreed understandings to provide support to Yemen in priority areas, primarily the electricity sector. They also discussed cooperation to resume the activities of development funds in Yemen, according to the agency.

During the visit, a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between Yemen and Qatar in the judicial and legal fields was signed.

Bin Mubarak arrived in Doha on Sunday, September 8th, for an official visit to hold talks with Qatari officials on mechanisms to strengthen and develop relations in various fields, in addition to national developments and regional and international efforts to achieve peace, according to Saba.
