Tribal Clashes in Shabwah Leave 7 Dead, 2 Injured Over Land Dispute

Shabwah, Yemen - Five people were killed and two others injured in armed tribal clashes between two families from the "Bani Ayub" tribe in the "Markha al-Oliyah" district of Shabwah governorate (southeastern Yemen), according to tribal sources on Friday, September 13, 2024.

The sources told "Barran Press" that the clashes erupted between the "Al Manssar Al-Mihqani Bani Ayub" and "Al Qurai' Al-Mihqani Bani Ayub" families over a land dispute in the western part of Markha al-Oliyah district.

The sources confirmed that the clashes resulted in the deaths of:

  • Muhammad Mubarak Mansour Ali Al-Mihqani Al-Yubi
  • Abdulkarim Muhammad Mubarak Mansour Ali Al-Mihqani Al-Yubi
  • Fars Muhammad Mubarak Mansour Ali Al-Mihqani Al-Yubi
  • Mubarak Hussein Qare'i Al-Mihqani Al-Yubi
  • Nayef Al-Qaysi Al-Mihqani Al-Yubi

The sources added that two others were injured in the clashes. They noted that tribal mediation from members of Markha al-Aliyah district was able to stop the fighting and is working to contain the escalation and resolve the issue.
