Yemeni President Rashad al-Alimi bestowed the Order of Unity, 22nd of May, First Class, upon the President of the Arab Parliament, Bahraini Adel al-Asoumi, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, according to the official Yemeni news agency Saba.

The award was presented during a reception hosted by President al-Alimi, with the presence of the Chairman of the Shura Council, Dr. Ahmed Obeid bin Daghr.

The agency stated that the awarding of the Order of Unity to al-Asoumi is a gesture of appreciation for his courageous stances at the helm of the Arab Parliament in defending the interests of the Yemeni people, their legitimate leadership, their Arab and Islamic identity, and their aspirations for the restoration of state institutions, peace, stability, and prosperity.

President al-Alimi also commended the Kingdom of Bahrain's stance within the coalition supporting legitimacy, led by Saudi Arabia, and the Arab Parliament's role in advocating for the issues of the Arab nation, including the cause of the Yemeni people in regional and international forums. He further praised the parliament's active diplomatic efforts at all levels.

In response, al-Asoumi expressed his gratitude for the presidential honor, commending the wise and responsible stances of the Yemeni Republic in responding to peace efforts and prioritizing the interests of the Yemeni people above all else.

According to Saba, both sides discussed regional and local developments and the necessary efforts to strengthen unity, promote joint Arab action, and confront the challenges facing the Arab nation.
