Aden, Yemen - On September 23, 2024, the Aden Appeals Court, which serves as the temporary capital of Yemen, revoked the judicial authority of the Khormaksar police chief for a period of two years.

According to a statement released by the Public Prosecution in Aden, the court session was presided over by Judge Mohammed Al-Junaidi, with the presence of Public Prosecutor representative Judge Fadl Mohammed Hassan. The case involved the police chief, identified as A.S.M.

The court proceedings addressed a request submitted by the South Aden Appeals Prosecution, seeking to revoke the police chief's judicial authority due to serious violations committed during his tenure.

The court accepted the prosecution's request, officially revoking the police chief's judicial authority for two years, effective from the date of the ruling.

In early July, the Aden Appeals Prosecution ordered the detention of the Khormaksar police chief and three other officers in the central prison for assaulting a judge while he was performing his duties.

The prosecution's statement indicated that the police chief and the three officers violated judicial immunity, attacking and detaining the Deputy Prosecutor of Ahwar, Judge Rami Al-Dhamami, during the course of his work.
