Joint cooperation agreement to improve sanitation services for displaced people in Marib for more than two million dollars

 On September 23, 2024, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center signed a joint cooperation agreement with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to enhance sanitation services for displaced individuals and host communities in Marib, northeastern Yemen. The total cost of the initiative is $2.25 million.

According to the official Yemen News Agency, Saba, the agreement aims to improve access to safe sanitation facilities and waste management services for displaced persons and the local population. This includes the construction of 200 new toilets and the rehabilitation of 600 sewage pits.

Additionally, the project seeks to strengthen local waste management capabilities, contributing to safer and healthier living conditions. It is expected to directly benefit 47,598 individuals and indirectly impact 137,580 individuals.

The agreement was signed by Abdullah Al-Rubaie, advisor at the Royal Court and general supervisor of the center, and IOM Director General Amy Pope, during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Marib province currently hosts the largest number of displaced persons in Yemen, with 2,134,497 individuals reported, according to the annual report from the Executive Unit for Camp Management in Marib. This includes 63,623 families, totaling 458,085 people living in camps.
