The Yemeni Embassy in Turkey marked the anniversary of the Yemeni Revolution (September 26 and October 14) with a cultural and speech event on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at its headquarters in Ankara.

The celebration was attended by members of the diplomatic mission and members of the Yemeni community, including students studying in Turkey. The event featured the lighting of a flame, where Yemeni Ambassador Mohammed Saleh Tariq spoke about the challenges faced by the September 26 Revolution.

Ambassador Tariq emphasized that the dangers encountered during the revolution were more severe than the current challenges posed by the Houthi movement, which is internationally recognized as a terrorist organization. He noted, “Despite this, the will of the Yemeni people prevailed as they endured hardships to realize their revolution, which liberated them from tyranny and colonialism.”

According to Tariq, “The immortal September Revolution was not only a revolt against tyranny; it was a humanitarian revolution that established the principles of justice and equality among the people and safeguarded public and private rights and freedoms.”

He stated, “The success of the September Revolution resulted from the participation of all segments of Yemeni society in rejecting the backward, regressive Imamate rule.”

The ambassador also referenced the October 14 Revolution, highlighting it as a symbol of the national struggle for liberation and independence from colonial rule.

He pointed out that the national battle is ongoing, requiring a mobilization of all resources and efforts to resist the Iran-backed Houthi coup. He honored the martyrs who fell in the pursuit of the two revolutions and called for the preservation of their achievements to ensure they remained eternal across generations.

Yemenis are celebrating the 62nd anniversary of the September 26 Revolution, which ended the rule of the Imamate monarchy and established the republic, a regime known for its oppression, leaving Yemen isolated, underdeveloped, and in ignorance.
