On Sunday, September 29, 2024, authorities aligned with the Iran-backed Houthi movement reported that Israeli airstrikes on Hodeidah port in western Yemen resulted in the deaths and injuries of 31 individuals.

The Houthi-run Ministry of Health, which is not internationally recognized, stated that four people were killed and 29 others were injured in the attacks targeting the strategic port.

Military spokesperson David Abraham commented to AFP that in a wide-ranging air operation, dozens of aircraft, including fighter jets, refueling planes, and reconnaissance drones, struck military targets associated with the Houthi "terrorist" group in the regions of Ras Issa and Hodeidah.

Reuters reported that sources at Hodeidah port confirmed that the site was hit by airstrikes, damaging infrastructure including fuel tanks.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant reaffirmed on Sunday that there are no distant locations for Israel, following the airstrikes on Hodeidah in retaliation for Houthi attacks on Israeli territory. In a statement from his office, he emphasized, "Our message is clear; for us, there is no distant place."

In response to the attacks, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanani condemned the Israeli strikes on Hodeidah, which targeted a power station and fuel depots.

This incident follows a series of Israeli airstrikes in July that targeted various sites, including fuel storage facilities at Hodeidah port, leading to reported casualties according to Houthi-affiliated media.
