A human rights organization reported on Tuesday that the Houthi group, designated as a terrorist organization, has abducted over 280 civilians, including children, in Dhamar Governorate over the past ten days due to their celebration of the September 26 Revolution and the display of the national flag.

In a statement shared with Barran Press, the non-governmental organization "Musawaah" documented the abduction of approximately 282 civilians from nine districts in Dhamar between September 20 and 30, coinciding with the 62nd anniversary of the revolution.

The organization noted that the documented abductions were widespread across most districts in Dhamar, with 120 cases reported in Al-Haddah district, 100 in Wusab Al-Ali, 22 in Jahran, and 10 in the city of Dhamar. Additionally, seven cases were reported in both the districts of Atmah and Maghrib Anis, six in Al-Manar, four in Dhawran, and two in Jabal Al-Sharq.

ِMusawaahemphasized that these statistics do not encompass all abductions in Dhamar but are limited to the cases the organization managed to monitor and document.

In its statement, Musawaah condemned the ongoing large-scale arrests by the Houthi group in most districts of Dhamar, characterizing these actions as an unjustified crackdown on citizens expressing loyalty to the revolution and celebrating national occasions.

The organization highlighted that such practices not only violate citizens’ rights guaranteed by the constitution but also represent a blatant affront to the September 26 Revolution, a symbol of freedom and independence for Yemenis. It further stated that any disrespect to the national flag, which embodies Yemen's identity and sovereignty, constitutes a punishable crime.

The Houthi group has launched a widespread campaign of abductions targeting activists and social and political figures in areas under its control, particularly in Sana'a, Dhamar, Taiz, and Al-Hudaydah, ahead of the popular celebrations for the 62nd anniversary of the September 26 Revolution.
