The Aden Security Prosecutor’s office has leveled several accusations against Major Ahmed Al-Marhabi, head of the Southern Transitional Council security department in Aden, for committing numerous legal violations.

According to a memorandum reviewed by Barran Press, the allegations were detailed in a document issued by the Deputy Prosecutor for Security and Investigation in Aden, Judge Bassam Ghaleb Ali, addressed to the Head of the Southern Aden Prosecutor’s office.

The memorandum, dated September 25, 2024, and numbered 605, outlines various violations attributed to Al-Marhabi, including unlawful detention, obstruction of work processes, the establishment of private prisons, and restrictions on personal freedoms.

It also referenced complaints forwarded by the Attorney General and the Head of the Southern Aden Prosecutor’s office concerning detainees held by the security department—specifically, Ali Al-Rimi, Hamza Yasser Al-Azibi, and Sabri Ahmed Saeed—asserting that there is sufficient evidence to support these allegations.

The memorandum urged the Head of the Southern Aden Prosecutor’s office to investigate the accusations and take the necessary legal measures against the accused, emphasizing the importance of upholding rights, freedoms, and the rule of law.
