On Monday, October 21, 2024, residents in the Harib district of Marib province, northeastern Yemen, reported finding pharmaceutical pills inside food products. The local Office of Industry and Trade has initiated an investigation into the matter.

According to local sources speaking to "Barran Press," citizens in the city of Harib discovered round white pills embedded within "Choco Mosaic" cake, a product sold in local grocery stores. The nature of the pills remains unclear, raising concerns about whether they might be narcotics, and the source of the product has not been identified.

Videos documenting the discovery of the pills inside the cake products have surfaced, prompting warnings about their potential danger and calls for consumers to refrain from purchasing the items.

In response to the situation, the Office of Industry and Trade confirmed that they had received reports of the pills found within the "Choco Mosaic" cake. Yasser Al-Hashidi, Deputy Director of the Office, stated that they have contacted individuals who discovered the pills and obtained samples for analysis to determine their nature. He noted that inspections of the same cake product in Marib did not reveal any pills.

Al-Hashidi added that the office is working to trace the batch number of the product containing the pills to communicate with the distributor and the manufacturing company, which he confirmed is authorized by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. However, he acknowledged uncertainty regarding whether the product had been tampered with or if a specific batch contained the pills.
