On Monday, October 21, 2024, Yemen’s Ministry of Public Health and Population, part of the internationally recognized government, participated in the launch event for the Regional International Health Network in the Middle East and North Africa (TGHN MENA). The event was organized by the University of Oxford in collaboration with the Canadian University in Dubai.

Representing the ministry at the launch, Dr. Ahmed Al-Saidi, Director General of Health Information and Research, participated via video conference. The event also saw the attendance of representatives from the UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, and Oman, alongside international experts from the University of Oxford and the World Health Organization.

The network aims to enhance research capabilities and identify health research priorities in the MENA region, focusing on addressing research gaps and building strategic partnerships to support health systems in resource-limited countries. Additionally, it seeks to develop health policies based on research findings and foster regional cooperation among health and research institutions.

Participants discussed ways to strengthen collaboration and coordination among member countries in scientific research and the development of health policies tailored to the health challenges facing their nations.
