The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning announced on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, that scattered rain is expected in 15 Yemeni provinces within the next 24 hours.
In its daily bulletin, which was reviewed by "Barran Press," the center indicated that mountainous areas would experience partly cloudy to clear weather, with varying intensities of thunderstorms anticipated in the elevated regions of Al-Mahrah, Hadramout, and Shabwa. Additionally, scattered rain accompanied by occasional thunder is expected in the provinces of Abyan, Al-Bayda, Lahij, Taiz, Ibb, Al-Dhale, Raymah, Al-Mahwit, Hajja, and western parts of Dhamar and Saada, as well as some areas of the Tihama highlands.
The coastal regions are forecasted to see partly cloudy to cloudy weather, with thunderstorms of varying intensity expected over the Gulf of Aden and the eastern and southern coasts. Scattered rain with occasional thunder is also likely in parts of the Socotra Archipelago, the Tihama plain, and western coasts.
In desert areas, the center predicts clear to partly cloudy weather, with scattered rain possibly accompanied by thunder in parts of the deserts of Al-Mahrah, Hadramout, and Shabwa. Moderate winds may occasionally stir up dust and sand.
The National Center for Meteorology has warned fishermen and ship captains of rough sea conditions and high waves in the eastern Gulf of Aden, eastern coasts, and Socotra Archipelago. Citizens are advised to avoid low-lying areas, riverbeds, and flood-prone bridges during and after rainfall, as well as to exercise caution during thunderstorms. Drivers are urged to be vigilant of reduced visibility on roads and mountain inclines due to fog, mist, and low clouds.
