On Sunday, December 1, 2024, local sources in Abyan province, southern Yemen, reported injuries resulting from an explosion that targeted a military vehicle in the Modya district.

According to a source speaking to Barran Press, a powerful blast shook the Modya district, specifically in the village of Al-Jabala, where an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by unknown individuals detonated under a military vehicle.

The source confirmed that the explosion resulted in several injuries, with victims transported to hospitals in Modya. The military vehicle, belonging to the Southern Transitional Council forces, was completely destroyed in the blast.

Abyan province has witnessed sporadic terrorist attacks targeting soldiers from the Southern Transitional Council and police personnel, with Al-Qaeda often claiming responsibility for such operations.

In previous years, the Southern Transitional Council forces launched military operations aimed at purging Abyan of terrorist organizations, following the expulsion of government forces from the area.
