On Monday, December 2, 2024, French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Saudi Arabia for a three-day visit.
According to Saudi media, Macron was welcomed at Riyadh airport by Prince Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman, the Deputy Governor of Riyadh Province. During his visit, Macron is scheduled to meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
A statement released by the Élysée Palace ahead of the visit highlighted that Macron aims to "enhance bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership" between France and Saudi Arabia.
On Wednesday, Macron is set to visit the archaeological site of Al-Ula in western Saudi Arabia, accompanied by French officials, including Culture Minister Rachida Dati and the head of the Pompidou Center for Contemporary Art in Paris, who will oversee the establishment of a contemporary art museum dedicated to artists from the Arab world.
