On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the internationally recognized Yemeni government expressed its support for Canada's decision to classify the Houthi group as a terrorist entity under Canadian law.

In a statement published by the official Saba News Agency, the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that this designation "contributes to countering the threats posed by terrorist militias to security and stability in Yemen and the region."

The ministry also expressed appreciation to the Canadian government for its stance and support for the Yemeni people. It urged the international community to take similar steps to assist Yemen in combating the terrorism of these militias, which pose threats to international navigation, the global economy, and peace and security worldwide.

On December 2, 2024, the Canadian government officially added the Houthis to its list of terrorist entities, making Canada the fourth country to classify the Iran-backed group as a terrorist organization, following the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.
