On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, the Finance Ministry of Yemen's internationally recognized government reaffirmed its commitment to fully disbursing salaries to state employees in both central and local authorities across the liberated provinces.

In a statement published by the Yemeni news agency Saba, the ministry denied what it described as "misleading rumors attributed to officials within the Finance Ministry." These rumors, circulating on various news sites and social media platforms, suggested that proposals were being made to cut salaries and pay state employees only half their wages.

The ministry reiterated its commitment to fulfilling its responsibilities by ensuring that state salaries are paid in full and without reduction. It urged media outlets to obtain information from official sources and to refrain from spreading false rumors.

This clarification comes amid ongoing protests in Aden, the country’s temporary capital, where labor unions, including those representing medical professionals, technical education, and training, as well as the Southern Teachers' Union, have announced a total strike in response to delayed salary payments and deteriorating living conditions.
