On December 11, 2024, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman announced that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been awarded the honor of hosting the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

In a post shared on the official X account of the Crown Prince, seen by Barran Press, he extended his congratulations to King Salman bin Abdulaziz and the entire Saudi populace on this significant achievement.

FIFA officially confirmed Saudi Arabia's selection today, making it the second Arab country to host the prestigious tournament, following Qatar. The decision came after Saudi Arabia submitted a comprehensive bid showcasing its capability to organize the event in accordance with international standards. The bid emphasized plans for developing sports infrastructure, enhancing tourism, and supporting sports on a global scale.

Saudi media reports indicate that five cities will host the World Cup matches: Riyadh, Jeddah, Khobar, Neom, and Abha. The announcement of the host nations for the 2030 and 2034 World Cups will take place during a virtual meeting of FIFA's General Assembly.

Earlier this year, on March 1, the Saudi Football Federation revealed the official identity of its bid for the 2034 tournament. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had previously praised the completion of the final procedures for the bid on July 29, the same day it was submitted to FIFA.
