On December 11, 2024, local sources in Shabwa province, eastern Yemen, reported the kidnapping of two brothers by the Shabwa Defense Forces, which are aligned with the Southern Transitional Council. The incident occurred in the Radhum district of the province.
According to the sources for Barran Press, a military operation conducted by the Shabwa Defense Forces took place early Wednesday morning, during which they stormed the home of Hider Mohammed Nasser Al-Adhail Al-Qash'ari in the village of Balsafaq. The forces abducted both Musa Hider Mohammed Al-Adhail Al-Qash'ari and his brother Haroun.
The sources further indicated that the two brothers were taken to the Balhaf military camp, where Emirati forces have been stationed since the beginning of the Arab coalition's operations to support the Yemeni government against the Iran-backed Houthi group, which is classified as a terrorist organization internationally.
In response to the abduction, members of the Al-Qash'ari tribe staged a protest outside the entrance of the Balhaf camp, voicing their outrage over the raid on Hider Al-Qash'ari's home and the kidnapping of his sons. The tribe also set up an armed checkpoint along the coastal road in eastern Shabwa.
The sources did not provide any details regarding the reasons behind the Shabwa Defense Forces' actions or the circumstances surrounding the brothers' abduction.
