CAIRO — Egypt's Minister of Civil Aviation, Dr. Samih Al-Haf, has announced that preparations are in their final stages to inaugurate direct flights between Cairo International Airport and Al-Rayan Airport in Yemen's Hadramout Governorate.
In a recent meeting with his Yemeni counterpart, Transport Minister Abdul Salam Hamid, Dr. Al-Haf stated that the flights would commence "within the coming weeks," as reported by Yemen's official news agency Saba.
Dr. Al-Haf emphasized Egypt's commitment to supporting the initiative, offering assistance in training and technical consultations through the Egypt Aviation Academy, alongside necessary airport facilities.
Minister Hamid, for his part, welcomed the move, expressing his openness to any flights operated by Egyptian airlines from Egypt to the liberated areas of Yemen. He lauded the continuous facilitation provided by Egyptian authorities, particularly the Civil Aviation Authority, and the expertise of Egyptian aviation safety and security specialists.
The initiative is seen as a step toward enhancing connectivity and fostering stronger bilateral ties between Egypt and Yemen, potentially aiding in the economic recovery of conflict-affected regions in Yemen.
