In a significant move, the Education Office in Marib, northeastern Yemen, announced on December 20, 2024, the cancellation of the Saturday holiday for the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year. This decision aims to complete the semester before Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
A source within the education sector explained to "Bran Press" that the cancellation is intended to accommodate the challenges faced by educators who often travel from distant provinces. The harsh travel conditions and rising transportation costs have made it necessary to adjust the school calendar.
The Education Office has issued a memo to school administrators, stating that classes will resume on Saturday, December 21, 2024. Saturday will now be considered a regular school day, with the only day off remaining Friday.
Additionally, another memo announced that morning assembly will be delayed until 8 AM, allowing students to wear winter clothing over their school uniforms to stay warm during the cold months.
